Throughout the process of extracting cannabinoids and terpenes from hemp, the idea of “where” gets lost. Where does the planting of industrial hemp take place? To understand more about the “where,” one must be familiar with the term natural phytoremediation. Hemp is a natural phytoremediation, which means that it can easily absorb heavy metals, pesticides, and other toxic residues that may surround the soil they are planted in. This is a great and unique trait of hemp but can also be a disadvantage if the plant is used for extraction to source CBD, other cannabinoids, and terpenes.

Pros of Hemp Phytoremediation:

For example, after the Nuclear Disaster of Chernobyl in 1986, hemp was used to clean the soil around the site. This was possible due to the process of phytoremediation, the “direct use of living green plants for in situ, or in place, removal, degradation, or containment of contaminants in soils, sludges, sediments, surface water, and groundwater.” This is possible because hemp is fast-growing, has deep roots, and is unaffected by the toxins that absorb through the soil.

Cons of Hemp Phytoremediation:

If the hemp is used for extracting cannabinoids–such as CBD, CBG, CBN, etc.–then it is crucial that the soil being used is clean of any toxic contaminants and constantly monitored throughout the season. Different farm sections must be consistently checked to make sure that no heavy metals, pesticides, and pollutants are found. If the soil is of poor quality and of low standard, then the consumer would be consuming a product that is not safe or clean.

Our Process

Our entire growing process of industrial hemp is done in the most natural way possible. We make sure that no contaminants are present throughout the entire process. We follow up with what equipment is used for farming our hemp, the indoor facility our plants are kept in, and our highest standard equipment used to extract CBD and other plant compounds.

  • Organically grown
  • Soil tested numerous times throughout the whole farming season
  • We never spray anything that can be toxic, harmful, or chemically unapproved by the FDA

Consistency: From the soil to the end product

Being consistent ensures that each batch meets our high standards and our customers receive the same high-quality product each and every time. What allows us to achieve this begins with our specific hemp genetic plants. Examples of specific growth procedures our farmers have utilized over the years include the health of the plants and specific cannabinoid and terpene profiles that allow us to make effective products that work.

Procedures, Verification’s, & Compliance

Our facility holds several certifications and licenses. We have chosen a facility that follows FDA’s Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) protocols. These standards and practices set by the FDA are the highest policies set, which a manufacturing department of dietary supplements can receive.

On top of us going beyond the normal of making sure our farms are at the highest standards in the industry, our hemp farm is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, which annually tests our fields and hemp plants to make sure we’re meeting regulations.

Lastly, our manufacturing department holds an ISO 9001:2015 certification, which shows that a company demonstrates its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. This ensures even more safety allowing our customers to purchase at ease knowing the product is from an inspected and licensed facility.

Full Transparency: We have nothing to hide

As more CBD companies are emerging, consumers are having a difficult time choosing between products. At Colorado Botanicals, we understand and hear your concern. That’s why we have a priority to be fully transparent in showing full lab reports of each batch.

We begin by conducting in-house tests several times before continuing the extraction or purification. Then, we work with a licensed independent lab that tests our products in order to show our customers a thorough report empowering you to consume and recommend our product comfortably.

Listen to our partners and what they have to say about their testing capabilities, practices, and guidelines.
