Hemp extract is the extracted and purified oil extracted from hemp, which contains cannabinoids and other compounds.

Is Colorado Botanicals products organic?

Although we are not organic certified, we practice in hopes of becoming an organic certified CBD company.
All pesticides, mildewcides, and herbicides used on our plants are 100% organic, especially hemp that is a fibrous plant it easily absorbs and holds toxins from the soil and air. Click this link to read our blog post on our Quality and Consistency standards.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in the Cannabis Sativa plant, which provide relief by imitating compounds naturally found in our bodies, called endocannabinoids.
Among 500 or so compounds found in the Cannabis Sativa plant, 113 are known as phytocannabinoids (meaning plant cannabinoids). Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Cannabidiol (CBD) are the main cannabinoids. The other main cannabinoids found are:

There is yet to be more research is done on these cannabinoids and how they provide relief to the body, but there is growing evidence showing how they interact with the body.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid System is a system within our body found in the early 1990s when the CB1 & CB2 receptors were discovered. First, it was believed these receptors were only found in the brain and nerves. Still, scientists later discovered more of these receptors throughout our body, including our skin, immune system, fat tissue, heart, kidney, skeletal muscles, pancreas, blood vessels, liver, & gastrointestinal tract.
The endocannabinoid system’s main function is to help maintain homeostasis or a biological system that ensures our body is working at optimal performance. An example is how our body does not want to be too hot or too cold, blood sugar levels too high or too low, and so on. Activating these receptors in the body with the help of phytocannabinoids triggers your cells to help your body maintain homeostasis.

What is the Entourage Effect?

Entourage effect, also known as whole-plant extract, is a mechanism when different compounds from the plant work synergistically to enhance the overall psychoactive and non-psychoactive effects. The compounds include the main phytocannabinoids, THC & CBD, working alongside terpenes with their own unique traits in providing relief that you can learn more about by checking out our blog post “Why. Terpenes Matter and What You Need to Know About Them.”

What is cannabidiol (CBD)?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical compound known as a phytocannabinoid found in a cannabis or hemp plant and is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. Much higher CBD traces are found in hemp hence why we extract using hemp instead of a cannabis plant.

What is the difference between Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum Extract?

Full Spectrum

  • Contains 0.3% THC per gram of extract
  • It can contain anywhere from 10mg of THC to upwards of 100mg or even higher levels of THC in a bottle of tincture, depending on the amount of extract
  • Can, surprisingly, get you high
  • It should contain minor cannabinoids and should definitely contain terpenes, as that’s what the name really emphasizes (“Spectrum”)

Colorado Botanicals Broad Spectrum

  • It contains Non-Detectable levels of THC or also known as “THC Free.”
  • Absolutely no way of feeling any psychoactive “high” feeling
  • THC will not show up on drug tests
  • Comfortably can take it on domestic and international flights.
  • It does not contain any CBD Isolate*

To learn more about this, make sure to check out our blog post, Difference Between Full Spectrum & Broad Spectrum CBD Oil.

How should I store my Colorado Botanicals products?

You should store our products in a room or area where the temperature is cool and store it away from sunlight since heat degrades the phytocannabinoids, especially terpenes.

How should I use the included dropper?

In the product’s box, you will find a card insert that explains it clearly with a picture, but how you use it is very simple.
You squeeze the bulb of the dropper, which then pulls in roughly up to 1mL of oil, and then you dispense the oil under your tongue. Hold it for 1-2 minutes and then swallow.

Why do we have to hold the oil under our tongue?

We recommend you hold it under your tongue, so you get the most out of the oil. The reason is that the layer under your tongue has mucus glands where it gets absorbed, and blood vessels are there.

Will Colorado Botanicals products cause me to fail a drug test?

No, we guarantee that our products contain non-detectable levels of THC, so you don’t ever have to worry about failing a drug test. Not only is every one of our batches tested in-house, but we always send them to third-party labs to verify and test our products. This ensures complete transparency so our customers can feel confident that they are purchasing a quality THC-Free CBD product that is also safe to ingest.
